#TBT – The Statue of Liberty

Following the havoc of Hurricane Sandy a New York icon, Liberty Island and the Statue of Liberty was closed while the damage was fixed and reopened on July 4 2013.

The Statue of Liberty has a great story behind her, originally gifted to the United States from France as a symbol of friendship in October of 1886.

Over the years the Statue of Liberty has come to not only symbolize the international friendship, but also to stand for freedom and democracy.
